Edward J Rogers ("EJR") is a Nigerian-born British Citizen who relocated to the UK, in 1967, together with his family, after a violent pre-war experience during the troubles that endured before Nigeria plunged into a conflict that was named "The Biafra War", (although it was really a civil war). EJR completed his education, in England, as the family remained there even after his late father, Brian Rogers O.B.E., returned to Nigeria shortly before the civil war ended in 1970.
After completing his studies at the University of Bradford, which earned him a BSc (Hons) degree in Industrial Technology & Management (an engineering discipline), EJR lived in London before commencing his offshore career, in 1988, as manager of a very small Isle of Man (IOM) company that his father had founded in 1979. (EJR now beneficially owns that company named Rogers Services Limited).
EJR was also employed, in the IOM, by the firm Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte) and earned his first professional qualifications (AAT and ACIS), with that firm, before the Trident Trust Group ("TTG") made him an offer to manage one of their Caribbean offices in 1991.
For the next 7 years, EJR was the senior manager/ director of TTG companies in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados and Nevis. Although he accepted an offer, in 1998, to serve as initial Managing Director of the Intertrust Group's new BVI office. EJR spent more than 5 years with Intertrust but left the Group, in February 2004, and joined the Amicorp Group shortly thereafter.
EJR was now a very experienced TEP and assumed responsibility for all of Amicorp's trust and trustee services from January 2005. EJR was eventually appointed as Head of Trust Services, in 2008, with trust personnel in 9 jurisdictions reporting to him. During his Amicorp career, EJR served as a director of Amicorp branch offices and/or trustee companies in the BVI, Nevis, New Zealand, Singapore, UK and Switzerland.
After the Amicorp association ended, in January 2012, EJR expanded the services that OCSL offered to include a full range of international wealth planning services mainly focused on tax efficiency & structuring rather than investments. (Although there are OCSL Group companies that now specializes in investments).
Primarily based in the IOM, since 2012, EJR has taken on temporary contract positions in Dubai, Mauritius and Hong Kong, during the pre-pandemic era, that were all at senior-level.
In 2022, EJR also founded the Professional Protector Group (PPG), which delivers corporate protector services to trusts and private foundations. PPG has protector entities in Hong Kong, New Zealand and the Netherlands, as well as a franchise LLC in the USA, in order that PPG can deliver protector services to US domestic trusts.
With his appointment as lead director of the Netherlands corporate protector foundation, EJR is now the only TEP in the whole world to have held senior-level roles in 17 jurisdictions.
For a number of years, EJR was also a globe-trotting expat, without an official tax residence, and he is pleased to pass on his tax-nomad "tips and tricks" to other expats, who seek tax efficiency, even though he is now happily tax resident, in the IOM, as that jurisdiction is tax friendly to business owners.
It is more than 35 years since EJR commenced his financial services career but he has no intention to retire and he is continually expanding OCSL Group's services as well as the network of business partners and affiliates (BPAs) whom we work with. For some of our younger BPAs, EJR also serves as business coach and mentor.
Thus, if you think you might also enjoy working with EJR, and to also benefit from his multi-jurisdiction knowledge, experience and acumen, then get in touch with him via our "Contact Details" page.
